In memory of Richard Boud, avid adventurer, lifelong Scout, renewable energy expert, much-loved father, husband, son, colleague and friend… and to me, awesome hiking buddy, I challenge you to ‘Move for Mind’.
Walk, run, jog or hike 10,000 steps a day for 30 days, appreciating the great outdoors and raising funds for mind.org.uk.
On the 21st May 2021, Richard died from peritoneal cancer, at the tragically young age of 49. Throughout his illness, he kept his spirits high and continued to nurture his love for adventure. Two discussions we had before he died were his thoughts on mental illness and cancer being equally hard to navigate and conquer and his firm belief in the strong connection between the gut and the mind.
King of the Mountain - Rich on one of many hikes regardless the weather.
Mind is a fantastic charity supporting mental health, which seems particularly fitting given the benefits of walking and outdoor time for improving the mental health of us all.
I hope that you can join me on this beautiful tribute to a wonderful soul, combined with a charitable legacy for a cause so close to Richard’s heart.
It’s free, it’s outdoors and it’s healthy!
No bad weather to get outdoors! Rich even had a lie down as if he was at the beach.
